Hi! I am Dana Karen. Most people call me DK.

I help people with chronic pain get moving who have felt stigmatized or otherwise unseen in typical health and wellness spaces.

I am a comprehensively certified Pilates instructor through the National Pilates Certification Program. I use the full range of Pilates equipment to help my clients improve strength, mobility, and well-being in a weight-neutral environment. I'm also trained in pain reprocessing therapy through the Pain Psychology Center, which is part of my movement-for-pain coaching approach. 

Having begun my own journey with chronic back pain as a young teen, I have been exploring ways to help myself and others regain joy of movement for decades. I left a 20-year corporate career in health and public service after twenty years when I realized that the anxiety of chasing after arbitrary professional milestones wasn't serving me or my body. I later launched Movement Remedies, a chronic pain–focused Pilates studio in Boston, Massachusetts. 

You’re Meant to Move: A Guide to Conquering Chronic Pain, Increasing Stress Resilience, and Reclaiming an Active Life, is my first book, and it hit the Amazon bestseller list for chronic pain and pain management the week it released in December 2023.
